About SMA

WHO:
Anyone who enjoys running, walking or wheelchair racing. No rollerblades or bikes. Children 8 yrs. and under can participate in the Beaver Trot (1/20 mile). T-shirts to all Trotters!

WHEN:
Saturday, September 17th, 2011
5K & 1 Mile Frolic begins at 8 a.m.
Beaver Trot begins at 9 a.m.

WHERE:
The run starts and ends west of Urbandale Avenue
and Beaver Avenue in Des Moines. The route winds through scenic Beaverdale. Walkers will line up behind runners. Beaver Trotters line up at 44th and Urbandale Ave. at 9 a.m.

WHY:
To benefit Families of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and celebrate the 2011 Beaverdale Fall Festival, Inc.
All proceeds go to Families of SMA Iowa Chapter to support SMA research.

REGISTRATION:
1. By mail (Entry Form)
2. Register online before midnight on September 12th at
www.fsma.org/beaverdash
3. Friday, Sept. 16th, 4:30-7:30 p.m. at First Federated Church, 4801 Franklin Ave.
4. At the race site on Sept. 17th beginning at 6:30 a.m. Registration ends at 7:30 a.m.

FEES:
$20 - before September 9th, 2011
$25 - on/after September 9th, 2011
$30 - on September 17th, 2011

$80 - before September 9th, 2011
$90 - on/after September 9th, 2011
$100 - on September 17th, 2011

Beaver Trot:
$15 - entry deadline 7:30 a.m. September 17th, 2011

REFRESHMENTS:
Yogurt, juice, fruit, cookies and more for entrants after the race.

THE COURSE:
Flat loop on cement and asphalt surfaces for both
races. Splits at each mile. Traffic control provided by Des Moines Police Department, with lead and trail bikers.

RESULTS:
The Beaverdash is no longer a timed event.

PLEASE NOTE:
No refunds. Registrations (on-line or by mail) received by August 22nd are guaranteed T-shirts at packet pick-up. Please do not mail registration form on or after September 6th.

Registrations received between August 22nd and September 6th are guaranteed T-shirts, but may not receive preferred size. Those registering at packet pick-up or day of the race will receive T-shirts following the race while supplies last.

PACKET PICKUP OCCURS:
1. Friday, September 16th, 4:30-7:30 p.m. at First Federated Church, 4801 Franklin Ave.
2. At the race site on Saturday, September 17th until 7:30 a.m.
